This suite of abstract paintings called Mind Fields is a sensory experience inspired from my art practice on the grounds of the Bundoora Homestead. They are process driven. It is a way of breaking away from representational imagery and sounds. My influences and initial decision of mark making come from improvised sound mapping. The paintings are short-circuiting the everyday repetition and saturation of imagery and sonic noise. This creates emotional depth and complexity to the experience of the artwork. I am interested in working with the juxtaposition of colour and physical gesture to create abstract works.
