I am a Melbourne based visual artist. People, places, and events from within Melbourne's rich cultural landscape have inspired my creative practice. I've had five solo exhibitions and have taken part in over forty group shows. I create artworks that utilize painting and drawing as a way of unraveling and revealing the complexities of the human experience.
For over thirty years my aim has been to challenge conventional ideas surrounding art and the abilities of people who have a lived experience of a mental health concerns. Within my art practice I try to educate, break down stereotypes, eliminate stigma and attempt to dispel myths in this space.
In recent years I've been involved with several projects. I completed an artist in residency at St Vincent’s Hospital in Kew. I also worked on several commissions for the private, community and public sectors. I produced many public murals and Street art, most notably for The Project Underground at Emerald House, South Melbourne. My artwork has been featured on a T.V. commercial for the Prahran Mission's fundraiser. I have been the recipient of numerous awards including; first prize in the Mental Health Foundation Australia's, Poster Competition in 2015 and first prize in Melbourne's State Trustees' 'Connected 10' exhibition in 2010 and the year prior to that I received the People’s Choice Award in Melbourne's State Trustees 'Connected 09' show, which was held at the Victorian Arts Centre in 2009.
Many of my artworks are represented in a number of public and private collections, including The Victorian Government, St Vincent's hospital, State Superannuation Building Melbourne, and the Cunningham Dax Gallery.
